Overactive bladder (OAB), also known as unstable bladder or detrusor overactivity, is a bladder dysfunction. It is commonly seen in urology, and its incidence increases with age.

 

Definition: Overactive bladder (OAB) is a syndrome characterized by urinary urgency, often accompanied by urinary frequency and nocturia. It may or may not be accompanied by urge incontinence, but without urinary tract infection or other clear pathological changes.

 

Epidemiology: The incidence of OAB is approximately 7%–27% in men and 9%–43% in women. Furthermore, its incidence increases with age.
